Over 600 Pupils in Koforidua Benefit from NB FGBG Teen Talk Show

Annual Teen Talk Show equips young people with life skills, mental health education, and mentorship while promoting menstrual health awareness.

KOFORIDUA, Ghana. More than 600 pupils from selected basic schools in Koforidua received guidance on mental health, personal development, and life planning during the 2026 edition of the NB Future Generation Builder Ghana (NB FGBG) Annual Teen Guidance and Counselling Talk Show.

Held on Tuesday, 30th June 2026, the event was organised under the theme “Mental Health and Wellbeing”. This brought together professionals from the fields of health, information technology, law, academia, and other sectors to mentor and counsel young people within the New Juaben Municipality.

The programme provided participants with practical knowledge on mental health awareness while encouraging them to make informed decisions about their education, personal growth, and future careers.

A major highlight of the event was the launch of My Period Guide, a new book by the Founder and Host of NB Future Generation Builder Ghana, Ms. Naomi Awuni. The publication forms part of the organisation’s commitment to mentoring, educating, and empowering young people, particularly girls, to realise their full potential.

The book is designed to educate, guide, and support girls who have not yet begun menstruating, as well as those already experiencing their menstrual cycle. It provides clear, age-appropriate information on menstrual health and seeks to address the challenges many young girls face in discussing menstruation or finding trusted sources of guidance.

Targeted at girls between the ages of 12 and 19, the guide also directs readers to safe spaces and trusted individuals who can provide support and accurate information whenever needed.

The launch comes at a time when the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and the Ministry of Education, is implementing initiatives to reduce period poverty and promote menstrual health and period freedom for every girl. As such, the publication serves as a timely educational resource that complements these national efforts.

Over the years, NB Future Generation Builder Ghana, a non-profit organisation, has implemented several community development initiatives across the Eastern Region in addition to its annual Teen Talk Show. Collectively, these interventions have impacted more than 6,000 beneficiaries, including children, adults, and older persons.

One of the resource persons at the event, a native of Koforidua, described the opportunity to mentor pupils from the municipality as both an honour and a personal responsibility.

Having been born and raised in Koforidua and educated through both basic and secondary school in the municipality, the speaker said it was always a privilege to return home and invest knowledge and experience in the next generation, despite a demanding professional schedule.

The event also provided an opportunity to revisit the Presbyterian Basic Cluster of Schools and the auditorium of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Ascension Congregation, Koforidua, where the resource person received basic education. Reconnecting with former teachers and interacting with pupils from the alma mater made the occasion particularly memorable.

Addressing the pupils, the resource person encouraged them to use three fundamental questions as a guide in making important life decisions.

The first question, “Who am I?”, emphasised the importance of self-discovery through understanding one’s identity, family background, community, strengths, weaknesses, and interests.

The second, “Where am I going?”, encouraged the pupils to define their aspirations by setting clear goals, purpose, and direction for their lives.

Finally, “How do I get there?” focused on the importance of developing a clear roadmap through planning, discipline, sound strategies, and consistent effort to achieve personal ambitions.

Reflecting on the programme, the resource person expressed optimism that the mentorship and guidance shared would positively influence the lives of the pupils and inspire them to become responsible citizens of Ghana and worthy ambassadors of Koforidua.

The annual Teen Talk Show continues to serve as an important platform for empowering young people with knowledge, practical life skills, and mentorship, while fostering stronger community involvement in youth development.
